Yes, home insurance rates are cheaper, city property owners also receive trash pick up, including bulk and yard litter (tree branches, etc.) pick up. Owners can request a commercial container to throw large bulk items in and then call the city to have it picked up. Also, they do not have to subscribe to Rural Metro.

Depending on the cost of the home, of course, county taxes can be more reasonable.

This has been asked and answered numerous times over the years in the Knoxville forum, as you know.

Sorry I had not seen that question answered before. So it's kind of a wash? I'm not really sure what area is considered "city" so it's kind of hit or miss as to which houses have the higher taxes.

Maybe not quite a wash. My trash is $9 a month. My parents pay about $50/month for waste management. That’s about the difference in our taxes

SC, you are now quoting Northeast Tennessee rates, not for Knoxville.

But yes, depending on the price of the house, it can be less of a deal. Some people like to live closer to the city, some not so much. Also, a lot of the county was annexed by the city back when liquor laws were different, so the "city" trudges right down Kingston Pike and lands in all sort of areas where restaurants reside.
