Yeah that surprised me, too. I think it depends on how many doctoral degrees or how many doctoral programs they have. Or something like that.

I would think at most, Lipscomb would be in the same tier as Belmont....

And is MTSU in tier 2 of nationals?

I would've put Belmont ahead of Lipscomb, but I guess I would've been wrong.

Anyway, the rest of Tennessee's national universities are in Tier 2 and unranked:

East Tennessee State University
Middle Tennessee State University
Tennessee State University
Trevecca Nazarene University
University of Memphis

I'm surprised by some of those - and which category some fall in. I'm curious how it differs from last year's rankings (or 2 years ago, when I was previously researching it).
Did I miss Sewanee or Rhodes somewhere??

Super surprised by Union - but that's a good thing! I was very impressed by Union when my eldest was deciding where to go. If he hadn't gotten accepted into a special program elsewhere (he only wanted that college if he was accepted to the program) he definitely would have been at Union.

UT Knoxville was #46 in Public University. #3 for Supply Management/Logistics majors; 48 for Business Programs; 63 for Engineers
UT Martin was ranked 22 for best online programs.
