Since nobody else has brought up this unpleasant subject, I will do the dirty deed. If you are a calendar watcher like myself, you are aware that this is a leap year which makes tomorrow Leap Year Day. It is my understanding that everyone is required by law to leap everywhere they go tomorrow. No walking or running. Just leaping. But here's what really ticks me off. I'll be driving from Kingsport to Memphis and will be affected for an extra hour because of the time zone change. I think this is very unfair. And you Plateau folks who change time zones every day will need to be aware of where you are at all times. You never know when the Leap Police will be watching. And if you're traveling tomorrow and you see a man who looks a lot like Shrek leaping from the fuel pump to the restroom and back you'll know it's me.

That's just silly. Leap Day was actually named for Saint Leap Ericsson, a Norwegian prince who lived back in the 1500's. He was killed trying to cross a busy street when he was hit by a donkey cart. This lead to the expression, "Look, before you become like Leap", which eventually got shortened to our modern-day expression, "Look before you leap".

Prince Leap was canonized in 1868 and became the patron saint of people crossing the road and stock market investors.

Uh oh. Before you know it, we'll be talking about:

Crossing the road >> Chickens >> Farm Animals >> COWS!

Look out, Phyll, leaping cows!

Cows have been known to leap out of trees onto people's heads.

The most common reason cows sometimes leap are cold hands on a warm morning.
