Hi, my wife and 3 children are considering the move from SLC. We were wondering about the schools, work opportunities, lifestyle, problem areas, etc. I am a construction manager and my wife is a school teacher. We have friends that live in Knoxville and love it. We are not set on Morristown but just looking for a nice area with lake front lot. Any other suggestions would help.
How are the home and land prices? Would we be able to get a lake front lot and put a 2300 SF home on it for under $500,000? I can't believe how green it is back there, considering we spent most of our time in Las Vegas and Utah.

Thanks,
Dave

I used to live in Utah, too (BYU).

I wouldn't live in Morristown if my life depended on it. It's a decaying factory town. Considering it's so close to a beautiful lake you'd think it would be a more attractive town, but it isn't.

If you want to live on a lake and be near jobs, I'd recommend the Oak Ridge area, West Knox County, or Loudon. Knoxville keeps spreading west and south; there are a lot of lakefront communities springing up around there. The schools in West Knox County or Oak Ridge are much better than what you'd find in Morristown, too. And you can easily get a nice lakefront home for less than $500k.
