It's $29/year in my county (Putnam). It was $24 but the state raised its fees $5, and believe it or not some people protested the increase. We don't have personal property taxes in TN.

Thank you so much for the details. I can assure you I'm not wasting anyones time., the nail is in the coffin. Once my hip is replaced we are gone. C'mon butter me up some more, how are the gun laws? Our pistol permit fees are $75 (required to buy long guns/pistols/ammo) every 4 years, and malloy wants to raise the fee to $400. How are the atv trails? Atv trail riding is completely outlawed in CT.

I'll recommend Anderson County. People are friendly to us Yankees from my experience and the schools are getting better. Anderson County High is actually rated an 8 now. I love the river, lakes, and state parks. Your budget is healthy for that area.

The OP specifically said no metropolitan areas, and Anderson County is squarely part of the Knoxville metropolitan area.
