Hello!
Finally found a forum where I can hopefully say hi to some future neighbors!

My husband and I have had 5 acres for about 10 years now, and we're finally so sick of California, we've decided to start building a house on it. We have in-laws in Louden, have visited the area of Paris several times in our motorhome, and we fell in love with Paris. Our property doesn't even have an address yet, but it's off of Old Paris Landing Rd., and may actually be in Big Sandy. Not sure.
We've hired a contractor, cleared the land, built the culvert and rocked the driveway. We are waiting for the state to tell us where to locate our septic system, but we must sell our home before we begin the structure.

I'm born and raised here in S. Ca. Huntington Beach is lovely, but I've always longed to live somewhere less populated, out of crazy California. A place I can live close to a lake to go fishing, and property to have some chickens. We travel in a motorhome, and will be living in it after our home sells, while we wait for our new home to be built.
My husband Bob was born in the Midwest, and my folks were from there as well.

Really looking forward to this move, and opening a new chapter of our 30 year marriage. Would love to hear from anyone, in the area or not. If you like the outdoors, camping, (or glamping, lol), fishing, and the natural life, I'm sure we will get along.
We are Christians, fellowshipping in a non denomination church here, and will be looking for a similar fellowship as well.

Better go before I write a book,
Blessings,
Sharon

The State doesn't tell you where to put your Septic System. You outline and area where you want to locate the septic and the inspector tells you pass or fail.
Your realtor should have told you to have a Soil/Septic Test done before your bought your property to ensure you can put a septic on it! And, you should have received your Septic Certificate from the inspector which is good for three years from being issued.

I had a contract on 123 acres, wooded and it failed the soil test due to too much rock and clay, so $500 fee down the drain..

Better to lose $500, than spend $50,000 and really get screwed. A perc test is nearly always required.

I was lucky in that I acquired another piece of property very quickly when the 123 acre deal fell thru and the State Rep did the perk test for free..
