Rutherford sure is growing fast! They're racing towards Hamilton and had the most numeric growth!

No real surprises here.

Locally (for me) Putnam eclipses 80,000 residents, while Cumberland pushes past 60,000. Both are punching well above their weight at the state level.

I fully expect Putnam to go back below 80,000 in the official 2020 Census. With TTU (as well as all colleges in TN) all on-line during the rest of the semester because of coronavirus, thousands of college students are now back home and won't be counted as residents of Cookeville/Putnam County. This also means Cookeville will probably not be elevated to a metropolitan area after all.

Agreed. The only way it could happen now is if Sparta's UC gets absorbed into Cookeville's (they were well under 2 miles apart as of 2010), but even that's not exactly likely to happen just yet.

Thanks for posting, JMT.

Great snapshot of how the largest cities in TN are growing.

It's fascinating to see all cities growing, with the exception of the very small dip in Memphis--which wasn't bad, considering what you'd think it would be.

I'd like to see Knoxville & Chattanooga approach the 200k mark by 2030, but not sure that will happen.

Murfreesboro & Clarksville may surpass both cities by 2030--we will see.
