It came without warning and filled the house

A sound long not heard, a forgotten song started to rouse

Their shells filled the trees and signaled their return

A chorus of creatures that out sang the birds

Won’t be long and it will fill your head

Even if you close the windows when you head off to bed

The Cicada’s are back, back from the dead.

Heard my first one of the year earlier this week. I know they drive some folks nuts but they've always been music to my ears, along w/ the crickets, katydids and tree frogs.

There must be a colony near my pond as this morning that low to high droning that I find rather mesmerizing showed up out of the blue.

I have to chuckle when folks say they wish to live in the country for the peace and quiet and I think to myself, you have got to be kidding. You should step out my front door at night during the summer because it is anything but quiet. However it is a symphony I could not live without.

Well I will tie them to the hook instead of running it through them and injuring them.

They don't bother me, but during the Knoxville Labor Day Boomsday festivities they were deafening. I think they did not want to be outdone by the people.
