I am going up in mid to end of June. I am going to be cutting some trees, sounds like a good time!

While up there, I will also be going to the drive in theatre in Trenton, Ga, and on to Mi Jacal for some awesome Mexican food. Oh, and cutting more trees...

Just remember if you plan any time at all outdoors here, and you are visiting from up north, you need a high number sunscreen and probably some kind of hat/cap. Also, we are already hitting temps of 90 so water isn't a bad idea either, if you are going to be walking around outdoors.

Oh, and ticks. Don't forget those lousy ticks!

On our visit to Gatlinburg this April, my wife picked up a tick on her waist that we didn't detect until we got back to Florida. She's fine, but had to go through about 2 weeks of anti-biotics, some swollen nodes, and a lot of anxiety about if she was infected with something worse.

Default Blue Plum festival?

What is the Blue Plum festival about ? Is it really Blue Plums? It sounds fun though, Willboy.

Grizzly, you are cutting down trees ..in preparation for a home site? Be careful please.

LauraC-good idea about the water. It sure was hot Memorial Day weekend. We were surprised. People do not realize how quickly you can dehydrate.

What's the best thing to help keep the ticks off of you?

Hi Robbied....
Here is a link for the Blue Plum Festival....
It sounds really fun, and this site also includes a list of the music line up that will be there.

I Wear Snake Boots In Cooler Weather And Snake Guards In Warm Weather (look Like Shin Guards Except They Go From The Top Of Foot Almost To The Knee) When Working On My Land....then Apply The Stuff The Tinman Spoke Of Right On The Boots/guards... Provides Good Barrier Against All The Creepy Crawlys ....
