A buji who?

Buji's the brand name for a great product (that I have no financial interest in). The blocker keeps most of the urushiol from getting to the skin, while the wash gets rid of what's left. Tecnu's another brand that's works really well.

I get bad rashes "looking" at poison ivy and in my old job did a fair amount of "bushwaking" so was exposed a lot. Technu makes a "before" product that helps reduce how much actually contacts the skin, and a liquid soap that helps break up the oils of the plant that cause the rash. Neither is cheap. Plain Ivory soap is almost as good but only if you wash within about 15 minutes or less after exposure.

After the rash begins Aveeno has bar soap that helps sooth the itch and also a hydro-cortisone cream that is also anti itch that works fairly well.

Chiggers usually seem to "bite" in groups, and most often where clothes constrict against the skin, like sock tops, underwear elastic, and belts. Their bite area looks like small pimples after a few days and are very itchy. Jelly bean size sounds too large for chigger or fire ants so my guess is spider bite.

Well, it doesn't sound like chiggers in that the itching is not in a clothing area (toes); on the other hand, it itches like the dickens, worse than poison ivy. There really are no marks though, just the blister. Perhaps it was a spider. I bought some Band-aids specifically made for blisters as well as numerous anti-itch sprays, gels and creams, so hopefully it will subside. Thanks everyone! Some of these critters are new to us, living in the south for the first time.

Has anyone tried Band-Aid's Rhuli Gel on poison ivy? I've not, but it works like a charm on skeeters (and for those of us acutely positioned on the skeeter radar, that's important!). Just a thought. I bet it'd work.

Nothing will "cure" poison ivy/oak, just make it itch and swell less. I get it something awful and I've had it so many times. Some people are just more allergic to it than others. If it gets real bad, or it's near your eyes, or other super sensitive areas, get a cortisone shot at the doctor's. It will make it go almost completely away. On me, that only lasts a few days and I have to get another one, but for most people one shot will do it. A home remedy I was told, and this really works, is to run the hottest water you can stand on it for about a minute or two (I usually do it in the shower). This will hurt like H#LL for those two minutes, then amazingly you will be itch free for about 8 hours. I've used this method many times when it was just on a hand or leg or something.
