This discussioon does not address where the electrical suppliers will get THEIR energy from to generate all this power. The energy to produce the electricity has to come from somewhere so instead of the car burning gasoline, the generator will use oil, coal, etc.

I'd prefer not to stay with oil; nuclear is the only current, realistic, large-scale alternative. Nuclear now provides about 20% of our power so we can have a lot more of our megawatts come from it as do so many other countries.

Energy is a basic input to our economy and we had better finally decide whence an increase in it is going to come.

I agree, the all-electric vehicle is one we might use, but not in the foreseeable future. A continued combination of gas and electric is the better option. Even if the decision was made to go all electric the time required to actually put the infrastructure in place will be daunting. That said, if the proper materials are found to create a battery efficient enough to drive vehicles a far enough distance so the stops on a trip are far enough apart so you only charge overnight as you sleep, then I'm all for it.

As for the apartment dilemma, I guess they have a problem.

So what do you use to treat a car that has a urinary tract infection?
