Hi Lisa! I love what you and Mike are doing. I know how hard choosing paint colors can be. I settled on "belgian waffle" olympic brand at Lowe's. It's a neutral that's more yellow than I originally wanted, but with sunrise especially, the entire house glows such a beautiful warm sunny color. I can see with your view it would be outstanding. You may want to get a color chip if you haven't picked out a color.

Mike & Lisa,
You guys are doing such a wonderful job. I know both of you are soooo proud, and you should be.
But there is only one problem!?!?! When your house is finished. We will be lost , we won't have anything to do.
Best of luck to both of you.
I love what you are doing. Enjoy.

Well people back then were more hardy than today. And there were millions fewer of us. And those older generations were on the land in one spot for a short period of time compared to today when man has been on just about every spot for a hundred years plus; contaminating most places and, today we have tests for everything and they are very good at finding contamination.

But let me ask you, would you have your family use and drink water from that dug well and its bucket? And if not, why?

My comment was concerning stagnant water sitting in a usually opaque atmospheric storage tank, propably at a higher temp and in varying light, than water in a usually covered dug well of up to 60' deep.

Default Good Morning!

ania- Thank You. I think we finally picked a paint color. We should be painting this week. No, "we will" be painting this week.

katsmeeow- I'm waiting for a story also. I can't wait until we are done spackling. It has taken over our lives.

Florida To Niota 2010- OK you need to shorten your name lol. (only kidding). Where is Niota? Or what? Thank you for you response. When we finish the house we will still have the land work, paving the driveway, and my favorite "my first garden" next spring. If that's not so exciting someone else will just have to build a house or do a project.

Everyone have a great day.

Lisa

Thank you for the reply Gary.
Yes I would use the well.
We have a spring on the property that I have been drinking out of for 58 years.

I am hoping to learn about water and water storage.
My new place in the hills of north Arkansas has a spring located in a dry creek bed. The creek really roars after a rain. The only thing uphill from me is forest, no fertilizers or pesticides.
I know that ferro-cement tanks are used all over the world and have been in use for hundreds of years.
I plan to pump out of the spring/creek into a ferro-cement tank.
I do not plan to drink it, but some websites say it's drinkable if treated with bleach.
Is this water, untreated, satisfactory for bathing and washing clothes?

The main concern should be bacteria. The forest is full of it. Bathing in contaminated water is not good.
