Yabbut, I wonder how green it is to move somewhere that you have to drive 20 miles to find kindred spirits. Unless you are a hermit type who goes into town once a week or month.

And what about jobs?

Inquiries like this cause me to wonder - are you looking for people who share your interests or are are you looking for the (relative) absence of people who don't?

This is a serious question, not just rhetorical.

I really like the downtown area of Asheville. I think it's beautiful, with the unique architecture, and funky, and lively, too. But the rest of the city just feels very rundown/small. I don't think I could ever live there. Summer33ny, the Mountain City area is really, really nice. If I were ever to leave Washington County, well, first I'd move back to Southern Greene County, but then I'd head to either Unicoi or Johnson County. Very rural, very mountainous. Very homey.

asheville is perfect...bon voyage...

The prospect of TN getting overrun with those types that will use their "activism" or courts, if neccessary, to force their desired way of living on everyone else scare me.

Don't let it happen, TN'ians. Point them towards Ashville. That's a win / win solution.

Not for people living in communities like Marshall, though, or especially the smaller communities in Buncombe.

I don't think you are going to find what you're looking for in TN.

I was thinking that there is a lot of green stuff happening in Knoxville/Oak Ridge for someone who is into the technical side of things. And we need to encourage scientists and tinkerers to find more efficient ways of doing stuff. But there's not too much of the pretentious "we're greener than you" attitude - thank goodness.

Knoxville is not green, it's orange! Like a good vine ripened tomato there are some green streaks here and there, but the predominate color is Orange and that's not going to change.
