Every year I plan my trip to Gatlinburg in April. However I might have to switch to June if this is a spectacle that is as breathtaking as I have heard. Did I hear right? Any one here have pictures of this event?

This was discussed a couple of weeks ago in the Knoxville forum:

Carmelle, my wife and I had a funny experience at Elkmont last summer. When I was younger my family would spend a week camping either here or Cade's Cove. We liked Elkmont where we could wade in the water. Last summer my wife and I took two of her granddaughters (ages 11 and 15)the trolley ride to Elkmont earlier in the afternoon, not knowing about the fireflies. The trolley takes a 15-20 minute stopover before heading back to Gatlinburg. My wife walked straight to the water, took her shoes off and started wading around. Both granddaughters just about died of shock!
"Grandma, what are you doing?" It's a shame kids now miss out on the fun stuff like wading the creeks. Gee! I'm just 52 and already sound like my grandmother (Back when I was your age.....!)! lol
