One time I went to Aldi and MADE a quarter on the cart system. Someone had put their cart back but left their quarter behind. So now that's my lucky quarter and I keep it in the change section of my car just for my Aldi jaunts.

They take weird kinds of debit cards and cash and no checks, I think. I just try to bring cash. I can't make heads or tails of the debit cards they take, anyway.

They have a "special deals" section in one of the open freezer cases, sometimes with fantastic deals. I always check that out. They have good produce. They also have fresh mozzarella for much cheaper than Kroger or Wal-Mart. I use that for a sort of caprese salad that I make. Their milk is much cheaper and so are their other staples. They also stock weirdo German bread that my German exchange student likes, so we go there at least every other week or so to get that for her. She also likes plain yogurt so we get a big tub of that for her at a substantial savings over the other stores. Their regular bread, bagels and English muffins are also substantially cheaper.

Usually, I like that the selection is much more limited than Food Lion or Kroger or Wal-Mart. If I need something they don't have, we just go to Food Lion (we probably shop FL the most out of all of the chains--I try to stay out of Wal-Mart if at all humanly possible and go to Kroger for sales only). I have to plan things out a bit more to go to Aldi or it would probably be my main source of groceries. Much, much simpler and cheaper. My perfect solution would be: Aldi for staples and main source of grocery shopping, Kroger, Food Lion for deals and stuff I can't find at Aldi, and spring street market for their deals on meats and chicken. If SSM was a bit closer I would add it to my general rotation.

I also like that the brands at Aldi are weird and not the ones we Americans are used to. It sort of takes away the snob factor of grocery shopping. You won't find a lot of choices, but they definitely have the basics covered well.

You are spot on about Aldi. I'm hoping that Aldi will take over the old Circuit City near my house here in Knoxville. I would do the bulk of my shopping at Aldi if I could. And I LOVE the fact that there aren't abandoned shopping carts strewn hither and thither throughout the parking lot.

If I lived in Cookeville (which I'm still trying to do) I would do a lot of shopping at Spring Street Market. A little bit of trivia: it's the oldest supermarket between Nashville and Knoxville. I like the fact that it's still an old fashioned kind of supermarket. Nothing flashy, but steeped in super friendly customer service including bag boys who still wear starched white shirts with ties. And it's right smack downtown which I also like.

Hi, guys! I see you are talking about ALDI here. Can somebody help me to find the information? Could somebody please tell how ALDI promoted itself on the web. I strongly need to find this information. May be you know where I can look for it. Thank you anyway!

We were in two of them one in Lebanon and the other I think southeast of Nashville somewheres. Both were low in shelf stock, nothing on sale like the newspaper ads stated, the stores were dirty, employees acted like they didn't care if you shopped there or not-just don't bother them, and no shopping carts in the store. We never went in another one.
