I've had to break myself of a few things.

My favs:

1: "allrightythen" Never thought about it until I saw it on a T-shirt in Cracker
Barrel last time I visited.
2: "Well Sh*t Far!!" -far meaning fire.
3: "You don't reckon?"
4: " I'll wup the tar outta' you!"
5: " I don't care for it anymore than t' spit in th far."

First I want to Thank Y'all for this thread and all the laughs you gave me this day...There was a lot of Southern Folk here that were like my own family and they always had me laughin' up a storm...I miss them very much...Maybe when I move to TN. I can find that again...I Love the Southern accent and the charm and especially when a Lady speaks...I truly believe its Pure Ignorence to make fun of how someone speaks...Now..can someone tell me the origin of the expressin...."Sho Nuff" ???...Bless all your hearts!

Well, it's just a corruption of "sure enough". Or did you mean where and how it got started? I would guess "sure enough" just got shortened back when poor, rural farm hands had third grade educations (if that); I don't know fer sho though. :-)

My favorite thing about the South is how they cut things short...

"Ya didn't bring it witcha did ja?"
"That's all a said, and ya startin' to gripe at me!"
"You's goin' ta the chili supper anight?"
"All's ziem over thair won't some."

I was born and raised in the south, I could go on and on.

My sister likes to say this all the time. She uses it in saying how expensive something is and says " I swear gas is gettin high as a cat's back" That always makes me laugh.
