Hello,
We are planning to move near Bristol Tennesse next year from Ft Lauderdale Fl. Can't take the fast pace anymore. We are from Colorado and moved to florida 21 years ago for my husbands job. So if anyone has any advice for us I would love to get the help. My husband does home repair and is an great farmer. He can fix or build anything, he is also a wonderful artist. I am a Doctor of Naturopathy, licsened massage therapist, skin care specialist, Reiki master and have been doing healing work for over 20 years now. We want to buy a fixer upper with at least 5-20 achers of land so we can garden and have a few farm animals. We are so looking forward to this move. Please let me know what I should look for as far as jobs, housing, how are the people ect.... Thank you very much.
Peace Sherrie

Hello,

I moved from Southern California to East Tennessee 10 years ago, and
have never once regretted the move. It is like we have found America Again honestly. Like the America full of hopes and dreams and manners that we grew up with. Coming from L.A. county the pace is slow and friendly where your new neighbors come and bake you bread to introduce themselves! It is heaven on earth and I thank God for bringing me here.

I checked a book called "The Places Rated Almanac" and based my criteria of where to move on that....including Jobs, Cost of Living, climate (we own and operate a sealcoating business) and housing costs. The book rates all areas of the country with at least 330,000 in population.

It would be great if you could get that.

I threw out all cities in the bottom 50th percentile. I came up with these places:
#1 the tri-city area of northeast tennessee including Johnson City, Kingsport (where i live) and Bristol

#2 Eugene Oregon

#3 Hickory N.C.

We took an RV trip and visited these places and liked the tri cities the best. So don't rule it out up here. it is a big enough population to have many jobs, but small enough that you always meet your neighbors at "the Walmart"

I would suggest you look in the newspapers online and check the jobs, housing costs etc... here is the link to all newspapers in TN.
