I thought some of you might be interested in purchasing seedlings. I am going to order a bunch this year to plant next spring.

Here is the link:

oh, wow, I would love to order some seedlings, but I just don't have enough space on my 5 acres for 100 trees.

Another thing to think about is that it is not a good idea to have a monoculture - that is only one kind of tree. Monoculture makes trees much less resistant to pests and disease. too bad they don't let you get a mixed hardwood package.

The prices are very good and what we plan to do is get several varieties, plant what we want and need ann then sell the remaining seedlings for a buck apiece to cover the cost we paid for them. What we cannot sell, we plan to take up on the mountain and plant. I do volunteer work for the Forest Service and we take areas where timber harvesting occured and replant them with hardwood trees from the nursery.

It helps that the nursery is less than 5 minutes from my house LOL.

This year we are planning to get Pecan, Persimmon, Plum and black walnut. We also want to get some redbud and crabapple because they bloom so beautifully in the Spring. I plan to plant several staggered rows of Virginia Pine on the back of the property where I can get a small glimpse of a trailer on the farm behind us. That will help make a noise barrier for their little yelping doggy and will ensure we won't have peeping toms this Fall and Winter. LOL

Like I said though, the prices are good and if you do not use all the trees, sell or give them away as gifts.....you can also donate them to the local school to give to the students to take home....at least SOME of them may get planted and go to good use.

I never thought of giving some away. That's really nice.
