I moved to eastern TN in July after spending my entire life in New England. I am semi-retired and had planned on moving to northern Maine, but east TN won out in the end. We had only one previous visit to TN (visited Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge). We did not reloacte to Sevier County though. My wife and I like it here very much- of course no place is perfect. Should anyone wish information about moving here, post or email me and I will be happy to answer when I can. but sometimes I only get to this site once per week.

I'm from New England. In fact there are quite a few on this forum that are from there. Glad you like it here!

Yes, welcome to East Tennessee! If you didn't end up in Sevier County, where did you end up?

New Englander here too. Originally from Berlin, N.H. now in FL hoping to make it to TN. i too only had one trip to Pigeon Forge area and loved it.Been back 2 times already and heading back in March to look for property. reminded me of back home in N.H. though i don't want to go back there. It's to harsh up there in the winter time. Then again, when i moved to FL i had never been to FL. I just packed up and came down. Though i've enjoyed the 12 years i've been down here, i'm ready to see the 4 seasons again. I'm all beached out and ready for the mountains and hiking again. Where in Maine were you planning to go? I used to go to Maine all the time up around Portland, Augusta and of course Old Orchard Beach.

"Jeff" county is very rural, as is almost all east TN, but it is still close enough to everything that you don't ever feel like you are stranded. Looking at any specific area here?

Well started looking in Newport (which is Cocke county) but also looking in Kodak, New Market, Dandridge area now. I just don't want to be a world away from a grocery or shopping center.
