We are looking for small acreage by larger city.
Close to Smoky Mountains. No kits. We are in real-estate.
We are considering these places: In Tennessee three areas .Johnson City, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. Georgia: Athens and Gainesville. S. Carolina Greenville, Spartanburg.
N. Carolina Asheville.

Where is nicest countryside, (we do not like the unfriendliness, showoff low live bar mentality and arrogance of S. Californians) most friendly residents, and best weather and not to many rules and regulations like in California?

Calafornia was a bad football trip for us, those lowly Bruins, upset our struggling Vols. I can't imagine you liking this part of the country, when compared to where your comming from. We stayed in Pasadina, and fell in love. The cost of living here, is probably 40 to 50% less, so you will make money. Several areas around and in Knox county will offer you what you are looking for. Let us know, the things you like, and can suggest several places for you.

We're currently in the Sacramento area. We liked the Cookeville, Monterey, Crossville area of Tennessee so much that we bought property there in 2007. We found everyone to be very friendly. This area is on the Cumberland Plateau and is very beautiful.

I moved from California in 1995 and I live in a small town. I will have to say I don't know many rude people in TN. When you move to the south most people are very friendly. My parents are moving here at the end of the year.
You also need to consider what kind of weather you want when you move here. Smokey Mountains get lots of snow, we live in Portland, TN and don't get but a sprinkle of snow here & there.
