Ok let's say it's Saturday night, you have no kids (or a babysitter available) a little extra money to spend what do you do and where to you go to do it particularly if you live in the Rural areas where it's too far to travel to a big city?

Well, I guess it depends on what your interest are and how far away from the Tri-Cities you are (If you are asking about North East TN area that is). There is Freedom Hall in JC and Viking Hall in Bristol. They have lots of things going on all year round, from country and rock concerts (all music types actually) to the Globetrotters and other such venues. As for music there is something going all all the time, from Blue Grass, oldies, rock, heavy metal and punk rock in and around all of the Tri-Cities. You can go to tricities.com and go to the entertainment section to get schedules. There are several movie theaters and bowling alleys. There are a few dance clubs. There are several really nice sports bar type places too where lots of folks like to go and the radio stations will show up at some of those for different contests and such. Baileys on Roan St in JC comes to mind for that. At the Holiday Inn in JC there is The Comedy Club that has two shows a night on both Friday and Saturday, quite a few headliners roll through there. There are also a hundred or so different community organizations that have happenings, get togethers and fund raisers.
If you enjoy live theater, there is one theater house in Bristol,1 in Abington VA, several small ones in JC and 2 in Greeneville that I can think of off hand.
Out in the real rural areas, you can sometimes find a local hang out (In one place it is actually someones barn, but everyone is welcome) and there is usually bluegrass or country music being played by the locals. Rodeos and county fairs are normal in the summer time.
Not sure if that is what you were looking for, but hope it helps
