fsmith2240 - I've been looking into the Tennessee area recently after discovering how cheap the land is. I'm generally looking into Perry County since I'm told that many Amish and Mennonites are to be found there. The choice of land available appears to be large enough to make it difficult to choose, especially trying to look from such a distance. Seems we have some things in common, like being city slickers wanting to homestead. Assistance sure would be wonderful!

I moved to Chattanooga(Hamilton County) 8 months ago. We are really into homesteading. We rented a house and will be buying next summer after the garden harvest. We live on a half acre and have a large garden rabbits and chickens. I was interested in where others have settled and what they are doing to homestead/hobby farm.

Default Homesteading Communities

I dunno, I live out from Pulaski, but from the way you describe it it would appear to be th e way that most people around here live just as a matter of course. They likely don't have a clue that they're homesteading though, they just think they're getting along as best they can.Considering they don't work Mondays or Fridays, or when the Crappie are biting, during Deer season or when it's too hot or too cold or -------. They have to make some accomodations in their lifestyle.

Default I, too, wouild like to find rural Community in E.tennessee

Perhaps likeminded people like fsmith and others who are looking for this should ban together?

I am looking perhaps 1 year from now to find or start a nature survivalist community where everybody helps one another live and grow food and survive on a piece of land.

If God blesses me or if I can find money, I would like to start this natural living lifestyle in East Tennessee. I, too, don't want to be too alone or isolated. I would like to live and start a small farm with help of others where we grow and raise our own food. But it would have to be protected also, from the "fools of life" that run our government or psychos who steal and rob rather than work.

Modern society is no longer glamorous or attactive. the "system" is fallen.
We need to depend on one another, not on the government or the rich people.

Well, I don't necessarily have money. lol I am just wanting a much simpler lifestyle. I want to be around real nature, not man made, and to try to start some kind of gardening and animals in a small way to start off with. I'm glad this thread was resurrected!

Hello, I am a believer of Christ and would also like to find either a community of believers or cheap land to start homestead myself, am looking for like minded individuals who want to homestead, to get to know about the area in or around Perry County or elsewhere. am comfortable with Mennonite lifestyle as well.
Also honest property owners,or realtors that might sell cheap land.
I don't have much in the way of finances so probably a community that accepts other beleivers would be something I would be open to.
