In my area of CA we have a school that offers enrichment classes on campus such as Art, Creative Writing, Music and Drama, but the core subjects are done at home. This seems like the best of both worlds. Is there anything like that in the Putnam County area? We are considering putting both of our children (grades 5 & 8 next year) into this program until we are able to move (hopefully summer of 2008) because we are not happy with their current school district. If they do well I would like to continue with this type of schooling after we move. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. We are homeschoolers and currently live in Southeastern NC. My DH is considering a job in Lewisburg, south of Nashville. I would really like to get connected with other homeschoolers from that area. That would play a big part in where we would locate.

Default Homeschooling in Lewisburg

I am currently homeschooling our 6 yr. old son. We also have a 2 yr. old daughter. We have not had a very active group in the immediate Lewisburg area that we have been involved in but there is one in Columbia and in Franklin that we like. The drive is not bad to either of those group activities and most field trips are outside of Lewisburg anyway. I am a former public school teacher and would love to see an active group form here in Lewisburg. I think there are a lot more people that homeschool here than I am aware of. I would love to know if anyone in this area is interested in helping form a group that can meet or even just have some park dates.

My youngest son goes to Chapel Hill Elem. and I am thinking seriously about home schooling. I do not know how to go about doing this. Can you help? I do not want him to be alone all day/week without any commuication with other children. I have many questions!!!!!

Wink Do a lot of research first. Home schooling demands a lot of commitment.

Billiejo, home schooling often is the right course for a family to take. You might want to look at the website listed below. It answers many questions on home schooling, including who should and who should not take this option.

Best of everything for you and your children.
