Considering property in Lawerenceburg. Can anyone give me information about the area? Everything I have seen and read points to a farming community. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, Northcountrygirl. Lawrenceburg is in an agricultural region and is a growing community with some industry and tourism. The city has a very attractive website (www.lawrenceburgtn.com (broken link)) that I think you will enjoy visiting.

It is a farming community that has lost a lot of manufacturing jobs in the last couple of years, particularly the Murray lawnmower factory and its 1000 or so jobs. Lawrence County has a very high unemployment rate, 9.8 percent as of January 2007 (the most recent stat available).

Thanks for the info. It sounds like just what we're looking for. I'll check out the web site. We may be coming down next weekend to visit. I'm very excited.
