Just passed from Clarksville... a doozy! I now have a small pond in my backyard. And I too have a lab mix like Pocketplayer, so you can guess what she's doing with that pond. How labs love the water.

I couldn't imagine living somewhere where it didn't storm every so often! The sound of the rain filtering down through the trees and pattering on the ground has to be one of the best sounds on Earth. Throw in a few claps of thunder while enjoying a glass of wine on the covered patio and it's heavenly!

Now, if only I had a covered patio... haha.

Come on over! I'll have to scoot a cat or 2 off one of the patio chairs, but it's nice and dry out here.

Thanks for the invite! I might have taken you up on it, if I wasn't already a glass into my wine!

The sound of that rain on a metal roof... almost musical!!! With the low bass of the thunder every now and then. I love sitting on my back porch swing looking out across the fields and listening to it.

I was so horny for rain in So Cal, I bought the movie Jennifer 8 because of all the rain during the first part of the flick. I always looked for films with a lot of rain. I have a rain personality and the sunshine of a desert climate became really annoying. Out here in TN there is a sense of awe that something is greater than yourself. In CA, weather is rarely a thought...until it rains like 1/8 inch, then the local news goes into "Floodwatch Coverage" which must make all visitors from the east laugh.

I had one of those "Thunderstorm" CD's I played just to hear rain. El Nino of '98 was cool...but when it rains heavy in SoCal (the ultimate bi-polar weather state), there is flooding, landslides...traffic accidents go up 400%

Y'all that are not used to thunderstorms -just be careful and don't set around outside, even on a porch. Lightning can hit miles from where you think the storm is located.

Yup, we lived for 8 years in the eastern Oregon desert. My wife and I would look out the window in the morning to see what the day looked like and one of us would say in a real depressed kind of voice, "sigh...Looks like another beautiful day." It got to where we'd nearly kill just to see a cloud. We'd kind of laugh to ourselves when the folks there would talk about a heavy rain, when you could walk between the raindrops. But, what do you expect when you get about 8 inches of rain a year?

Sassykat&joe is right--y'all be careful watching the lightning! It's more likely to get you than a tornado down here!

Just stumbled across this thread. I live in New England and the spring storms are my favorite! I love the way the breeze picks up, the sky turns dark, and then comes the sudden downfall. It takes my breath away!

I lived in the Southwest for a while and sorely missed the spring showers in New England!
