Fences in Greeneville? (houses, fencing, safe)

Hey everyone. I am under contract on a home in Greeneville and I noticed most houses in that area do not have fenced in back yards and no one on the street has a fence. The home is off W. Main, in the city limits. Does anyone know if there are fence restrictions there? If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

They may have some small restrictions near the historic homes downtown but mostly it shldnt be a problem.

I noticed that too when visiting knoxville & chattanooga, and I liked the idea of having an open yard. Perhaps it's a sign about how safe & secure things are

I did find out from the historic district that as long as you can't see it from the street, you can do what you want as far as a fence and other changes go. My hubby and I are leaning more towards not putting up the fence that we first wanted which was a 6 ft. privacy fence. There is no sense in blocking in the views when there are some trees around that allow for privacy. We will probably get a small fence in the back that is in keeping with the look of the railings on the house which are white metal. If I didn't have dogs I wouldn't even bother, but they like having their freedom so walking them on a leash isn't an option lol.

Got a question on fencing as well. The back of our property line has a clearing for the electric company to pass by of about 75' wide as there as some lines that go over our property in the back. We've got 8 acres so it's not a big deal. Does anyone know if a fence can be put up across that clearing as long as we leave gates for them to get through?

I would think that no, you couldn't put anything across that clearing, but your best bet is to call the electric Co. And get what ever they say in writing.
