We went down to Tennessee, touched down without a sound
Felt like I was coming home when my feet touched the ground
Felt the sunlight on my face, and breezes in my hair
Didn’t know a soul around and I didn’t even care

We drove down from Nashville, just as far as we could go
Taking in the countryside and singing with the radio
People smiling and waving everywhere we went
Thinking to myself all the way, this place was heaven sent

Ate some biscuits and some gravy, tasted catfish and Sweet Tea
Face hurt from all the talking, people wanted to know bout me
And I’m not used to someone caring unless I’m in the way
Wondering how I found this place and praying it stays this way

Don’t think I’ve ever seen such green or breathed a cleaner air
Felt my heart ache cause it’s so full like the answer to my prayer
The peace that overwhelms me is like drifting through my dreams
Just trying not to wake up to find it’s not the way it seems

Standing here on the velvet grass and I don’t hear a sound
Except a big old bumble bee buzzing low along the ground
And birds just making music in the top of an old oak tree
I don’t ever think I’ve had the chance to feel this free

Take away all my money, my house and all my things
You can have what I don’t care about, just leave me these wings
Leave me here to breathe the air and stand out in the sun
I’ll be a friend to my neighbor and never again need to run

We went down to Tennessee, touched down without a sound
Felt like I was coming home when my feet touched the ground
Felt the sunlight on my face, and breezes in my hair
Now my heart is breaking because I can’t be there

Y'all are killing me!

Yesterday was the video, today the poem.

My hormones are all messed up as it is, it doesn't take much to make me cry!

That is a great poem and you are incredibly talented. It's nice to see other people feel the same way about the GREAT STATE of TENNESSEE!

Thanks guys! Watching it still snow and looking at temps in the thirties. The house down there that we were trying to buy won't come down to a price range where we can buy. All kinda depressed me and I had to do something to get my spirits back up. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope it helps TN natives understand how much some of us you aren't living there really do care about this unique state. Not giving up. Still gonna find a piece of Tennessee, buy it and protect it with a shotgun if I have to and live happy.

You'll find something better. I firmly believe that. I bet, somewhere down the road, you'll realize that place would have never worked out for you, could have even been a disaster. It always happens, we know that everything works out for a reason, but at the time it seems very disappointing.

Keep your chin up!

Thanks and I agree with you. Things happen for a reason. I've already got my eye on another one in the same area. I mean what's the worst that could happen?---- I have to take another trip to Tennesse??? I could live with that.

Thanks, northcountrygirl. I'm glad you liked our little corner of the universe. It's not perfect, and we're not perfect, but we like it here.

:-)

That is so funny! I was just sitting here thinking, "I will never get a house." And then thinking, "Remember what you told that girl, it will all work out."

How did you know? You're kind of creepy!

Creepy??? ok, that is a new one, but I guess I have been called worse LOL!!!!
You are right, you WILL find your place that is RIGHT for you and your family and then the house will come, but not until the time is right and you just can't rush that.
