Can anyone give me information on the area of Parsons or Decatur County in general for retirees? There is an area outside of town that is called Brodies or Brody's Landing Road that takes you right to the River. Does anyone have information on any recent development or building going on there in the last few years? There was a lot of land for sale and I'm pretty sure there was a building putting up homes on 5 acre lots and was wondering what the area looks like now or what the homes are selling for.

The homes you are referring to can probably be found through Clifton, TN which is in a growth spurt of expensive homes. The historic town is very small but has a Bear Trace Golf Course (Jack Nicklaus), Ross Creek State Park. The Riverbend Horseshoe Festival is held there each September and attracts thousands upon thousands with a hosts of entertainers, etc. The houses on 5 acres are probably across the TN River from Clifton.

I think you are referring to Brodies Landing which is located at the end of Brodies Landing road at the Tennessee River. Take Brodies Landing Road to right if you are going north on Highway 69 (may be renumbered since it was rebuilt several years ago) about 6 or 7 miles north of Parsons near Jeanette. The River is several miles from Highway 69. I don't know if there is much development going on regarding residental sites but I was there recently and did see one house deep in a densely wooded area about a half mile from the river. I grew up on Highway 69 about 4 miles north of Parsons and used to go swimming at Brodies landing. I left Tennessee in 1961 but still get back there a few times each year as my family still owns the old farm where I grew up.
