Great report. Reinforces my feelings for the foothills area .
We are relocating to the area also this Summer but in the country.
I have passed thru this area many times during my road trips .
I live for solo road trips and you sound like you want what I do.
I totally avoid super hiways sticking to 2 lane balck tops and I personally can not stand tourist traps. So this way I see all the beauty unobstructed.
Civilization does come in handy when looking for a good Hotel tho , lol
