Back Again --

Selmer is a neat little town with a colorful history. Some other little towns nearby that might also be attractive to you are Adamsville (smaller than Selmer) and Savannah (larger than Selmer). Living in that area, you would be within an hour's drive of Jackson (TN), which has more shopping and restaurant options. Corinth (MS) is within an hour's drive, and Tupelo (MS) is within a 90-minute drive, as well.

Best wishes.

Sorry, I haven't visited here in awhile...

Just got back from Selmer area. We bought property in Bethel Springs. Like you said, about $2K an acre. Nothing here for jobs, Wal-mart in Selmer. We go to the lumber yard in Henderson, or to Jackson for more selection. Selmer has some good, local restaurants. The Mexican place (Atzimba) is good, as is Elms. Pappy John's has great BBQ. Haven't tried some of the new places yet. For chains, go to Jackson. Henderson has a great burger joint.

No bars, no movies. The auction on Saturday in Adamsville is popular.

Nice, quiet area. Good if you can entertain yourself, and don't need to work.

LOL. That pretty much sums it up. I grew up in Savannah and moved to Adamsville when I was 21. I have lived here 23 years. As soon as I can sell my house, my hubby and I are moving to the Knoxville/Lenoir City area. I love east TN!!

No. I was raised in Jackson and lived for a couple of years in Adamsville. My stepmother's family lives in Selmer, and my sister-in-law lives in Savannah, so I'm in that area from time to time. My dad owned a business in Selmer for a few years back in the day. (I live in Little Rock now.)

Gotcha! You nailed Selmer so well, I thought you must have some kind of history here. I grew up in Savannah, and have lived in Adamsville most of my adult life.
