We have been looking the past few years and just bought in a gated community along Lake Cherokee near Mooresburg. The community is called Chelaque Estates. We got on top of mountain (hills in that area) and the view is awesome.. Many lots for sale there.

Default Mid Tennessee

Check out Overton Retreat just outside of McMinnville. Gated community with acre lots, all rustic architecture, sits on top of a mountain. Views are spectacular. REMOVED. Very nice folks to deal with. Too rural for us, but who knows it just might be what you are looking for.

The Morgan County area in east TN is gorgeous. If you're looking for a quite beautiful place to move to. Here we enjoy fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, hunting (or just watching wildlife), etc... With each season you'll find more and more reasons to move to east TN. One thing to remember, you never know from one minute to the next what the weather will be.

I'm not sure why the other poster said you don't want to live there, but since I saw no respose I thought I would chime in on where it is located. It is between Nashville and Chatanooga going down I-24. It's maybe half way between the two, not sure exactly. I've never really heard anything bad about it except for that stretch of interstate. It is very steep and has those runways incase an 18 wheeler (or anyone really I guess) has some trouble with their breaks. When living in middle TN, I'd hear a few people talk about having wrecks in that area. Other than that, I have no idea what the other poster meant by saying you don't want to live in that area.

Default Retirement+life style

We searched NC and TN for 2 years and retired in Piney Flats, a small city in the center of the Tri-cities area in NE TN. It is a wonderful life with quality people, vistas, multiple bass and trout spots, etc. We bought a log home on 2 acres and that is plenty big enough to leave time for recreation. The medical facilities are excellent with a teaching hospital in Johnson City, and East Tennesse State University is in Johnson City too. Take a drive down and visit the area, in fact email us ane we will entertain you for a weekend.
Honestly, when we visit our friends in CA, it seems like we have quit aging.

Default Tenn/Kty property

Don't know if you found your property but my husband and I are both retiring from L/E careers. We found 5 acres with a small cabin in a little town in Campbell Co. We plant to move there in 5 years and adding on to the cabin. THe area boasts Norris Lake with 800 yes 800 miles of shoreline. Beautiful mountain views no matter which side of the road you are on. HWY 63 runs right through them. I stand on the porch and look at them. 30 miles from Cumberland gap, so you are also close to Kty. Cool weather but very little actual snow each year. THe people are, well, I was born in the Bronx, work in Tampa area. Lets just say, it is culture shock. It takes some getting used to, I mean, people don't cuss, they ask they can help you in stores like Ace Hardware and I hate comming home each time we go up. I recommend Kyle McDowell Realty. He is awsome. He has a web sit you can view for property in Campbell County. If you build, buying from local lumber mills will save you THOUSANDS. Look at the Powell Valley SHores Marina web site and you can see the lake as well. Good luck.
