The best BBQ is in Memphis. Try Germantown Commissary, Pres. Clinton had them cater at the WH, you can see the pics on the walls there. I grew up in Memphis, and it's always been my favorite. For ribs, try the Rendevous. It's downtown and it has tons of history.
I love living in Nashville, but Memphis BBQ is better.

Start a fist fight, why don't you. ;-)

A lot depends on what you're used to. Most people in Middle Tennessee don't like Memphis style BBQ. There's a Neely's near where I work; I can't even get most people to go to lunch there.

I might be willing fist fight over BBQ. Maybe it's the Memphian in me, but I feel as strongly about BBQ as NYers do about pizza.
I wouldn't consider Neely's true Memphis BBQ. I haven't found anything in Nashville that are as good as my favorites in Memphis.
But living here is so great I can get past the lack of good BBQ.
