Hello!
First of all I love Tennesee! I am a frequent visitor and will be there for the IRL race at the Nashville Speedway in a few weeks. I am in need of information on the city of McMinnville in Warren County. I am researching the late and great country singer Dottie West. If anyone has any information they would like to share please do not hesitate to email.

BrandyGovert@msn.com

Thanks!!
Brandy

Default Lived in McMinnville for 10 years . . .

now live in Pelham, a few miles west of there (on I-24).

When I first moved there (temporarily) in 1985, it was so backwater that they had only a few fast food places (Mr. Gatti's and Burger King, I think). 2 years later, when I moved back to New Orleans, they had added a few more. Today, they've even got a Ryan's, Applebees, Wal-Mart Supercenter, and Lowes! It's called the nursery capital of the world, and I have the allergies to prove it. The spring flowers and fall colors are fantastic. They have mainly flowering trees and shrubs. People are very friendly.

I do know that the highway out of town (56 North) is called the Dottie West highway, but I don't know much more than that.

What exactly is it you're looking for?

Hello!
Thanks for getting back to me on McMinnville. I was looking for a few specific things and maybe you would know:

1. Dottie's mom once managed/owned 3 cafe's. One was called "Ma's Cafe" and I wanted to take photos of those cafe's if they are still standing.

2. Dottie lived on Anderson Street while finishing high school and I wanted to photograph that house.

3. I also would like to photograph the home she grew up in, but all I know is that it was located near the patures owned by a man called Ralph Klank.

I have been to McMinnville once and found her grave, but it was over the labor day weekend and the civic center was closed. Any information is appreciated.

Here is the address for the State historian for warren county. I would contact his person and ask for the specifics you are requesting. These guys usually have access to burial records, old maps, birth certificates, etc.

These records may help you with your research. Kerry
