I know Greenscapes in Knoxville was looking for a designer/salesperson if your into that. As far as production goes, Mcminnville has 100+ nurseries in the area and you shouldn't have a problem finding work there. Also, John Deere Landscapes has branches all over Tennessee and are always looking for qualified people. As you prob already know, hort jobs dont pay very well as a whole. I went to U of Tenn for Hort and would up working in a different industry out of state because the pay was so low in Tennessee. Luckily, the cost of living is also lower than elsewhere. If your experienced in Propagation, I am planning on starting a nursery in East Tn sometime in 2010, but thats a ways off. I live in the suburbs of Wash DC now, and cant wait to get home to East TN!

I have been propagating plants for ~ 30 years for our plant sales (3 per year). i also direct our nursery manager regarding the care of the sale plants. I also have recently been doing some web content management and seem to catching on very very well....according to someone in the business. I have a real interest in native plants and feel that this is a niche, probably everywhere, that will be in more demand as water availability and the need for low maintenance. I've been gardening since I was 7 years old.

Contact Sunlight Gardens. They are a native plant nursery/propagator located near Clinton, about 20 miles North of Knoxville.
Sunlight Gardens mail order wildflower and native plants nursery
Native Gardens is in Greenback, TN
Native Gardens - nursery propagated native plants & seeds
Erin's Meadow is a Herb/native plant seller, also in Clinton
Erins Meadow Herb Farm
These are all very big operations.
The Tennessee Native Plant Society would be a source of leads and there's a link on their site to native plant growers. They're centered more on Nashville and central TN.

My favorite nursery is Stanley's, just south of downtown Knoxville. It's a huge nursery but very friendly. I think they propagate the natives they sell. The owner's house is on the grounds and he's always around with his dogs.
