I haven't lived in Jackson in 12 years, but if you stay on the north side you should be ok. Even Medina, which is about 10-15min from town, could be a good choice. Nice little town that has grown quite a bit in recent years and has excellent schools...

Depending on your budget, you have several good options. If you have $$ to spend, look north, as the previous poster suggested. North Jackson is very safe and quiet. The problem is, of course, the schools. Jackson's school system is not good. Medina (a small community in Gibson County north of Jackson) is growing quickly and has its own schools, which get rave reviews.

If you're strapped for cash and don't want to live right in Jackson, you might look south to the small town of Henderson in Chester County. It's a quick drive to Jackson -- only 20 minutes to Downtown. Henderson's schools are good, and you can live there for much, much less than in north Jackson or Medina.

If you're not too worried about the schooling situation, there are other parts of Jackson that are nice and quiet. There are some neighborhoods in both south Jackson and midtown that I would heartily recommend. However, seeing that you have two children, I suspect that schooling is going to be important to you.

Best wishes with your move.
