honeisos, good for you! I did the move from NYC to TN as well and for the same reason. Just needed a change from the same old routine, and didn't want to have the should of, could of, would of regret later in life if I didn't at least try it. Guess that goes for anything!
I must say, it definietly is a change from NY. Nothing negative, just different, but do enjoy it! Relaxed lifestyle for one. Not getting from point A to point B as fast as posible, just to get there (easily said, hard habit to break!). The things I took for granted in NY, such as 24 hour dinners, Chinese take out, good Italian cuisine, garment district, street vendors and transportation, I now miss more so. Especially the transportation. Knowing you had a bus, subway, cab or ferry available when a car wasn't, I miss. It seems middle TN is growing and am sure this will improve over time as well. Cost of living in TN is at the other extreme when compared to NYC. I reside near Murfreesboro, Smyrna area. Not far from Nashville. I feel it's a good balance between city and country. No where as populated as any of NY's five boroughs, but not located way out nowhere as well. Many people I've encountered are transplants themselves. It's always going to be an adjustment leaving what you've always known however, change can be good.
Best wishes on your starting your new business and welcome to Tennessee!
