Well, whenever you come to Nashville visit his home . . . Andy is still there.

All joking aside, the Hermitage is worth a visit if you like historic things. I find the grounds and the old cabins more interesting than the Hermitage itself. A lot of the old trees were blown over back when we had the tornado in '96 (I believe), but it's still nice.

Is Hermitage Landing still nice? We used to lie on the beach and listen to all day concerts that played on a floating dock out in the lake, race mini speed boats.....we had such a good time there.

I bet the Native Americans, especially the Cherokees, were glad when he dropped dead.

They were all in Oklahoma by then. ;-)

Of all the Native Americans, I kind of feel the Cherokee got one of the worst deals of all.

Yeah, minus the 4,000 that died getting there.

There were a few Cherokee left in Tennessee. They have a gathering at Red Clay each year. I believe.

The ones left in Tennessee were the ones that hid out, took on 'white' names, and so they stayed.

The ones who were force marched to Oklahoma were the unlucky ones. Too many died along the Trail of Tears.

But, from what I remember reading, the western Cherokees got the last laugh by striking oil on their Oklahoma reservation.

blessings, Shen

I'm not sure that is true. It seems that every time the Cherokee became successful, and they often were since they are a brilliant people, a new law was created to rip it away from them.
