I have a map showing lakes and ponds in Texas. They show one in LaFeria called Reba Bass Lake. Anyone know anything about this lake? Is it still there? Is there fishing allowed in it? What kind of fish is it stocked with? Freshwater or saltwater? Thanks in advance for any info.

just looking at google maps it seems to be drying out.

i would say you can fish most bodies of water in the area... although personally i wouldn't eat any of the fish that came out of them, but a lot of people do with no ill effects.

also, most of the freshwater around the valley is not stocked. the main resaca in san benito is stocked with catfish though... so there's exceptions.

overall, i'll tell you what i tell everyone about fishing in the valley... there's no point in freshwater fishing when the valley has some of the best saltwater fishing in the country.

Correct with one major exception. Falcon lake has enjoyed great fishing the last few years with lake levels way up and great stocks of Bass and Catfish.. The main hub for fishing at Falcon would be Zapata. Other than that you have the whole Gulf of Mexico at your disposal.. Bay fishing is done in the shallows where Trout, Redfish, Flounder and Snook are popular. Then there deep-sea fishing where Red Snapper, Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi (dolphin) are also popular.

Also, La Feria is a great little town. It is very small (don't blink!!) but it has definitely grown over the past 10 years. My family lives there and they love it! I hope you enjoy your visit!
