Hello, I'm new City Data. I was wondering if there is anyone
that currently is living or used to live in Wichita Falls,Texas?
If so, what is your opinion on the City? Did or do you like it?
If so, what you did you like in particular? In my opinion, It's
an okay place to live in. The Downtown area is trying to regain
it's status as the 'place to be in WF'. The crime rates are slowly
dropping, but not much. The 'Kay Yeager Collisuem' is too small,
& is in a bad spot of the City. And, if you don't mind, I'm going to let you
in a secret, I've never been to anywhere else except Dallas/Fort Worth,
Bowie, Sherman, Burkburnett, & the southernen most part of Oklahoma.
So I kinda feel left in terms of travling to places such as the coastal area of Texas & everywher esle of the United States, except for where I live &
the places mentioned.

Hi, Wolfpac. I haven't lived in WF, but I've been there several times. It's easy to get lost in at 2 a.m. changing highways. The climate & weather aren't the best; I passed through it right after the 1978 tornado which did an incredible amount of damage along the highway. It's at least as hot as Fort Worth in summer and considerably colder in winter. But I must say I've never spent time in WF just poking around to see what is there.

I'm a WF native, born and raised. Growing up, I was never really a fan of the city and wanted to move to D/FW. In 2004 I got a job that required a move to D/FW. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I guess. I like D/FW. I really enjoy the variety of restaurants and things to do. I know my way around the entire metroplex like a pro. But it just never felt like home. 6 months after moving down there, I got the oppurtunity to move back to WF and I took it.

I like it here just fine. I like the slower pace of life and the small town attitudes, while at the same time having the ammenities of a bigger town. I like being able to get anywhere in the city in 15 minutes and not having to worry about traffic. I bought a house 2 doors down from the house I grew up in (and that my parents still own) in a nice, quiet neighborhood on the edge of town. It's a nice place to raise my kids.

Sure it's not the most scenic of towns and it can be a bit boring, but if you need the hustle and bustle and excitement of the big city for a day or a weekend, you can drive 2 hours north to OKC or 2 hours south to D/FW and get all you want.
