I am thinking on buying a house in Fresno, it is a foreclosure home in the Teal Run section. Can anyone tell me if Fresno is a good place to live? And the houses there are ok? So far what I have been looking at looks all-right but this will be my first house, so I am a bit hesitant on whether or not I should buy the house there or not. Do you think the value of the house would go up in the next 5-1o years? Any tips or comments greatly appreciated.

Default Fresno, TX-It is a nice place to live

Fresno is a nice community. [Moderator Cut: soliciting]. They love their neighbors and say everyone is really friendly. They have an active home owners association in Winfield Lakes which helps to keep the neighborhood up. This may sound silly but my clients really like that they have trash pick up twice a week. They bought the house when they worked downtown and in the medical center so it was a quick ride on the Ft. Bend Tollway but now they have to move to the 45 South area closer to Clear Lake. There is not a lot of traffic or congestion in Fresno either. [Moderator Cut: soliciting]

You'd probably get more feedback posting this question in the Houston forum.

Teal Run had a total of 115 foreclosures and many investors will be snagging some to rent out. As for the next 5-10 years that's hard to predict since the market is at an all time low.

Fresno is a great place to live, but the price of houses is dropping over here making the property value drop. A home right across the street from mine sold a couple of months ago for HALF the price of mine and it has the same square footage and everything (2611 sqft). They got it between $70K-80K; OUCH!!! Good deal for them...
