I'm looking to relocate to Austin from Roseville, MI. I was looking for apartments in the Austin area family friendly, nearby schools and potiential companies looking to hire as soon as possible. I have experience in IT and customer service. I have 3 children of school age. Please advise.

I suggest you post in the Austin forum directly. You will probably get more direct feedback there.

I'm a lifelong Austin resident.

You definitely will not find a job ASAP in Austin. Everyone wants to live here. I would venture to guess that the actual unemployment rate is par with the rest of the U.S. If you move here, come with a lot of money, because it may be some time before you find a job. I still know people who've been looking for two years +. We've got a lot of 99ers. The tech field in particular is oversaturated.

Why do you say Austin's unemployment is par with the rest of the US? Do you think the beancounters are lying? If they are - don't you think they are all over the country?
