Hi all,

I'm pretty sure I'll be living in the McAllen area soon and I will be needing to furnish an apartment. It seems like the most popular furniture stores in the area are Lacks and Ashley's. I was considering checking them out but I've read some bad things about broken furniture deliveries and such. Does anyone have any suggestions about where in the area I can obtain some decent furniture? I'm fresh out of college so cheap is a plus. Thanks!

-John

Lack's has low (Bassett, etc.) to somewhat higher end furniture (AIICO, etc.), Ashley is mostly mid-range. Celina's is high end (Theodore Alexander, etc.). Why not check out places like the Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity thrift shops? I personally donated several thousand dollars worth of furniture earlier this year to the SA. I'd check them out carefully, and I'd most likely stay away from flea market (no puns intended, but you are aware of the bedbug situation!). I have purchased from Lack's before, and had no problems with delivery. I can't imagine having furniture delivered broken, and that you would have any responsibility. I really don't see that happening at all. Lack's also has a clearance center where you can get some really good buys. They tend to nickel & dime you with delivery charges, but they are always having a sale of some kind.
