bs, if we legalize them then their momma, their poppa, their aunty, their uncle, their cousins, their best friend lupe will all come too. The 80's amnesty didn't help curb illegal immigration it compounded it. The problems we have now is that we gave them leeway in the 80's

They took our jerbs

Damn, doc. Time to call a spade a spade. Even the hispanics down here on the border are sick and tired of the illegals invading the towns. Yes, I lived down there for 20+ years and also am hispanic.

A lot of people here (in Texas) don't really think that far ahead and have trouble seeing big picture. It was really funny to see my girlfriend's stepdad to go on "Deport all illegals!" rant and then you look outside his window and see all those undocumented workers doing landscaping around his house, I pointed at them and asked him "Do you wanna report those guys to the INS now or let them finish the job?" I hardly ever get to see that guy speechless and this was neeto!

For the record, I don't think if all illegals were deported it would have be a devastating blow to the Texas economy. Maybe at first, but after all they are employed at construction sites, meat-packing plants, or chicken farms not because nobody else wants to do those jobs or because illegal immigrants are great at them, but just because they are a cheap labor. Many states that don't rely on cheap immigrant labor do fine without it. But over here I'm sure there will be plenty of folks available to fill all the suddenly opened positions (not everyone has a college degree) but you won't be able to pay them $5/hour either and all the products and services will cost much more.

it is a slap in the face to those hispanics that went through all the hoops, applied for resident visas, did their time, applied for citizenship and so on, to see others come here illegally and getting away with it.

The doc is happy in his own little world in Delaware. It is always easy to be liberal on immigration when you are doing it from a distance

So what do you propose doing? Building a Soviet style armed border zone complete with a no-man's-land where everyone therein spotted gets shot on the spot. And of course a nice Berlin Wall type barrier with plenty of barbed wire and guard towers?

I was "liberal" on immigration when I lived in Texas. It has nothing to do with my now living in Delaware.

The only ones here who are pro-illegal alien are American business owners. Start penalizing them for hiring undocumented immigrants and the problem will solve itself, and by penalizing I'm not talking about $2,000 fines that they can easily keep paying off. I'm talking about the fines that can really damage or even bankrupt their businesses. Now all there's left to do is to find a candidate who's suicidal enough to go after big and small businesses. You think Slick Rick is gonna do that? Ha ha! Faux News will be the first one to crucify his heretic ass for desecrating the holy laissez-faire principles.
