A lot of people here (in Texas) don't really think that far ahead and have trouble seeing big picture. For the record, I don't think if all illegals were deported it would have be a devastating blow to the Texas economy. Maybe at first, but after all they are employed at construction sites, meat-packing plants, or chicken farms not because nobody else wants to do those jobs or because illegal immigrants are great at them, but just because they are a cheap labor. Many states that don't rely on cheap immigrant labor do fine without it. But over here I'm sure there will be plenty of folks available to fill all the suddenly opened positions (not everyone has a college degree) but you won't be able to pay them $5/hour either and all the products and services will cost much more.
