In SA, it's usually a Mexican plate.

True, except that each state has a different license plate.
I live close to an Air Force Base and I've seen a lot of plates from Alaska and a few from Puerto Rico and Guam.

obviously the answers are going to depend on where in the state you're located (as some areas are more popular to some transplants than others), so please specify which metro or region of texas you reside in. feel free to elaborate as much as possible
I see New Mexico plates the most and i live in West Texas in Midessa.

Well C24, interesting dredge-up.

Let's talk about this right quick. Not surprisingly I see far more La. plates. Saw a few today when the wife and I went over to Livingston, Tx.. As my wife works there (in Livingston) and makes the drive often I actually commented on seeing several of dem coonasses' license plate (trying to add a bit of Justin Wilson flair there at the end). But besides that down in this more south eastern end of the Pineywoods I see some surprising plates like today a car from NY, and Alaska .and I'm betting they have kool on-the-ROAD storistory .

Living near Dallas I’d see the occasional MA plate. One guy moved in next to us and said his company had relocated and took some employees with them.

Living in Minnesota now, TX and CA plates are very common, along with nearby states.

Louisiana and Oklahoma. Over here in East Texas.

Down by the border I see a lot of Mexican tags on cars I wish we could buy here.

I otherwise don’t see any other tags with any noteworthy regularity. I was a trucker for five years and didn’t note much else. Distant runners up might be California, Illinois, and Iowa. I didn’t even see that many tags from other neighboring states like NM or Arkansas.

In El Paso its going to be Chihuahua, Mexico and New Mexico.

In San Antonio, it's a variety due to the Air Force Base but California and Florida are seen quite a bit in SA. Coahuila and Nuevo Leon, Mexico are often seen in SA although not so much since COVID started.

On the opposite end of things, I see Texas plates quite a bit in San Diego second only to Arizona.
