Gov. Rick Perry today announced the state is investing $1.6 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) in Health Management Systems, Inc. (HMS) to consolidate its national headquarters to Irving. This investment will create 350 jobs and generate an estimated $17.6 million in capital investment.
"All across Texas, municipalities and their economic development corporations are teaming up with the Texas Enterprise Fund to make a very compelling case for doing business in Texas," Gov. Perry said. "Businesses across the state are succeeding in the job-friendly environment we've worked hard to cultivate, with a combination of low taxes and low government spending, predictable regulations, a reformed legal system and increasingly accountable public schools."

Health Management Systems (HMS Holdings) was founded in 1974 and is headquartered in New York, New York - make that was headquartered in New York.

August 24, 2010
HMS Holdings Corp. Ranked # 10 on FORTUNE List of 100 Fastest-Growing Companies

Meg Whitman said that Rick Perry told her he like to go hunting in California (hunting for business to come to Texas) - New York has always been a favorite hunting ground also - one of the top 10 growing companies is always good for us.

Good news for Irving, good news for the DFW Metro-Mess, good news for the Texas economy. We have to continue to keep the business environment friendly to gain these jobs and taxpayers.

"HMS is very pleased to be consolidating our operations in Irving, and the Texas Enterprise Fund was a key component of our decision to make a long-term commitment to the state," HMS CEO Bill Lucia said. "Texas, and the Dallas Metroplex in particular, provide HMS with an excellent pool of talent to help support our mission to improve the effectiveness of our nation's healthcare system. We look forward to a mutually productive relationship, and serving as a valued corporate citizen in this community."

as an addendum to this praise for Perry--
another article citing how many of the companies that have received monies from this fund have also donated to Perry's campaign--
don't think that is a coincidence--
Perry's tech fund aided firms with ties to his donors | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Latest News

this story from the TX Observer which is from March is another allegation of impropriety as well calling the fund Perry's slush fund for contributors
http://www.texasobserver.org/cover-story/slush-fun

also--just piece of gossip--
someone I know on Facebook has a friend I don't know--I can read what that person posts on my friend's facebook page--
among other comments they were passing back and forth--the friend posted comment that the last public engagement he had seen Perry at just a short time ago (from what he said I think it was a company function) the Gov was drunk--
