Like how the "Real Housewives of Orange County" take themselves seriously while the rest of the country is laughing at them?

Some of their items I can live w/o but they do have items you won't find at the typicaly grocery store. They are on Coit at 190. Have you tried Fishmongers in Plano on Central at Park? They are a restaurant and fish market. They offer fried, grilled and blackened fish options. Another good place w/ lots of options besides fried is Fish City Grill. We have one in the Firewheel Mall and they have some really good offerings. On the specials if you want to substitute a different sauce you can.
Sounds like my kinda place! Many thanks to you, and Dallasite for the heads up!

I highly doubt that. Not one single person has even asked me where I'm from since I moved to Plano. Most of the Texans here don't have an accent either.

Are you sure they're Texans? Plano has a lot of out-of-state transplants. Y'all don't sound like Sean Penn in Fast Times anyway, that's just a stereotype.

Do check out the fish at Central Market...it's not cheap, but it's very tasty. I ate a lot of fish in the UK (lived there for years) so I sort of miss it.

Go to any high dollar sporting event like a Stars or Mavs game and you will see women w/ men you KNOW are "paid dates".

And not all Texans have a thick accent (unless they're from a small town like my hubby!) but the city ones do have one. You can hear it in the way certain words are pronounced. If you listen to how certain words are said, you can tell the difference. Out-of-staters (except those from Southern states) pronounce vowel sounds as very short and sometimes nasally, depending on where they're from. The transplants from various states that I work with generally speak in hard-edged and clipped tones, not as pleasant sounding as Texans/Southerners, IMHO.

Well, if everyone I've met since I moved here in March is a transplant......that could explain it. lol

I lived north of San Francisco about 60 miles, and 30 miles from the ocean. My husband was big into ocean fishing, and also dove for abalone. Needless-to-say, we had tons of fresh fish and it was soooooooo good. We also got fresh crab right off the boats. I really miss it too (the seafood), although I don't miss him....lol

Sheesh, now I feel self-conscious and feel like I'm going to have to practice stretching out my words.
