Hi, Although I probably won't move to Texas (I'm currently in California and am more interested in moving to a far north county of this state), I'm just curious what's the town/city in Texas that has the coolest summers?? Are there any areas where it averages below 85 degrees in July or August???
Thanks a lot,
James

The places that come closest to that are Lubbock and Amarillo, which average in he low 90s that time of year.

Fort Davis, Alpine and possibly Marfa are cooler than that in summer, but one has to like isolation to live there. I may retire to Fort Davis. I love it there!

right on the coast there is usually a breeze. its still hot and humid.

85 down here is considered a bit chilly past May.

Anything in the Davis Mtns, notably Alpine and Fort Davis. However, Lubbock and everywhere on up the Panhandle still have wonderfully cool early mornings even in the midst of summer. It normally cools down really well overnight. Humidity is also lower than along the I-35 corridor, so the heat tends to be less oppressive.

Thanks guys!
Yeah, I didn't really think there were any areas in Texas with cooler summers. I live in Pacifica, CA where the average summer temp is 67 degrees------and a heat wave is the low eighties I cannot abide the nineties range

Thanks again
James

How fortunate for you. That's a beautiful part of the state. Gotta like the rugged terrain, that's for sure.
