Anyone here familiar with exotic game ranches in Tx? I've been hearing about a lot of exotics, mainly deer and antelopes, breaking through fences and living and breeding in the wild. Is this a really bad problem here?

Not really. While you still need a hunting license to kill an exotic deer (or hog for that matter) the season is always open. When they get off a fenced exotic ranch, they get dead pretty fast - generally speaking. The chances of escapees establishing a breeding population significant enough to negatively impact native species is virtually zero.

there are over 15,000 nilgai living in texas, mostly in the southern part.

there's no restrictions when it comes to hunting them since they're introduced.

your best bet is to look for a lease in a coastal area... probably in cameron, willacy, or kenedy counties.

Laguna Atascosa NWR allows hunting. Visit their website for more info.

This place is close to where my kids just bought a home. Exotic Hunting :: Briley Outfitting :: San Angelo, Texas I have seen what I think are springbok as well as some other exotic animals from the highway. They haven't lived here long enough to have heard if there are problems with them jumping fences etc. I would think at the prices they are charging, they would have some extreme security!

I asked about exotics in Tx because I was online a few days ago and read where african gemsbok antelope and ibex goats are breeding at high rates and that gemsbok in New mexico have even crossed over into Tx so I wondered if we were having a similar experience. I've always known about pigs causing problems here. They are pretty much public enemy # 1 because of their temper and destruction of crops. Thanks to everyone for the links. I'll definitely check those out.
