I'm thinking of moving to northern or central Texas. From what I hear the weather is really outdoor friendly. I'm 43, single and really into guns/hunting/fishing, motorcycles and being outdoors in general. I'm not into big cities, but being single I like to be social at a pub now and then. Is there a happy medium?? Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Default or...maybe just outside of Austin

Ok..so I may have changed my geography a bit. I've been checking out Round Rock. Looks like a nice town. I also like the social life of Austin...but not the "big city" aspect of it. I don't have a problem meeting new people at all. I'm very outgoing and I used to be on the cover of romance novels...which helps. Is there good hunting nearby?? I'd love to help decrease the hog populationBut I don't want to drive hours to do it.
Sooo confused..

Not too much hunting around the Austin area, unless you know someone with land who wouldn't mind you clearing out their hogs. Actually, there's not much public hunting land in Texas anywhere. Most is privately owned.

You'll find hogs in east Texas. Leon County calls itself the 'Deerest county in Texas'... Centerville, Buffalo, Mexia, Lake Limestone. But you'll find the 'big' deer in south Texas.

If you're looking for hunting buds, try getting involved in outdoors animal activities, like rodeo, ranching, Ford pick up trucks.

Trust me, there are wild hogs all over Texas! Hill Country has great hunting but you need a land owner or find a lease to hunt. Kerrville is a great little town for someone. My folks live up there right now and love it.

plenty of leases you can buy into.

if ya like hunting deep piney woods and swampy river bottoms, duck an goose, east texas. houston an surrounding towns. lake livingston area, ba steinhagen lake area, sam rayburn area. lufkin naogdoches, longview, tyler, palestine. theres a hundred places to park and be close to good hunting.

if ya like brush country and mesquite, then san antonio and surroundings.
