Where is the best BBQ restaurant in East Texas? I've tried a few places but I have found Bodacious on Troup Hwy in Tyler to be my fav so far. Is there another place that's better in ET?

Yeah Bodacious is one of the top BBQ places in Texas to me. They have several in Longview as well. It's another one in Longview which is ever better and was in one issue of Texas Monthly as a good place to get some BBQ. It's called Carters. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had in my life. Thankfully I use to live right down the street from the place.

I remember going by this place on one of our jaunts to East Texas, while staying in Tyler and doing some touring the town. We didn't actually stop in, but it looked like a true/blue Texas BBQ joint, and I noted the name for future reference.

So how many of y'all know anything about this one?:

How about Country Tavern, west of Kilgore on HWY 31, and Crazy Bob's at the Liberty City exit off of I-20?

I have heard good things about Stanley's, but never been there.

Most professional bbq critics will unanimously tell you that the BBQ joint in Huntsville is by far and away the best barbeque not only in east texas, but in the nation. I think its called Mt. Zion, or Zion BBQ or something like that. Its been deemed the undisputed king of bbq by a few different publications. Its been featured in several national publications for its BBQ. You can read more about it here:

New Zion Missionary Church. Good place, I've been there three times, Another place in Huntsville that I like better is McKenzies, om HWY 190 between I-45 and the downtown area.

The Purple Pig makes the best brisquet sandwhich -ever. Every time I am in Tyler I stop for the brisquet and sausage. There sausage wraps are great.

It is one butt ugly building but the food is good.
